1. Classification of SAT certificates

SAT has 2 different exams, SAT General Test (SAT I) and SAT Subject Test (SAT II), which are used to test a student’s ability, assessing that student’s ability to participate in a full learning environment in English in the US or not.

SAT I is a test with 3 main parts: EBRW (Evidence-based Reading and Writing); Mathematics and Essay (optional) tests students’ thinking and reasoning ability in Languages, Mathematics, and Social Discourses and is a mandatory condition when applying to universities in the US.

SAT II is a test used to assess students’ ability in each specific subject such as Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Foreign Languages… Usually, each student will choose from 2 to 3 SAT II subjects. SAT II is usually optional and is only used when applying to competitive universities or applying for scholarships.

Beginning January 2021, College Board has officially announced the removal of the SAT II exam and Essay section of SAT I until further notice. So in this article, Intertu refers to SAT preparation, which means it is talking about studying for SAT I.

    • In addition to knowledge of algebra and geometry, Mathematics section also has more questions about statistical probability and data analysis
    • EBRW – Reading test is not limited to topics, so students must cultivate knowledge and vocabulary in as many fields as possible.
