4. Typical international high school programs

4.1. IB program

IB is a globally recognized International Baccalaureate program and is highly regarded by top universities around the world. The program consists of 2 years and requires students to choose 6 subjects from 5 different areas including First Language, Second Language, Humanities, Science, Math and Arts.

4.2. AP program

AP is an Advanced Placement program popular in the US and Canada for high school students in grades 10 through 12. The knowledge and skills required are equivalent to a first-year college level. Therefore, AP scores are also accepted as the admission criteria of most universities and colleges in more than 60 countries around the world.

4.3. A-level program

A-level is a two-year British education system program administered by Cambridge. The program is divided into 2 academic years: year 1 (AS Level) – equivalent to grade 11, and year 2 (A-level) – equivalent to grade 12. Students learn from at least 4 subjects in year 1, then continue to study 3 subjects suitable to career orientation to take the A-level exam.

4.4. IGCSE program

IGCSE is an international program chosen by many international – bilingual schools to teach students in grades 9 – 10 to provide the foundation of knowledge and skills needed to progress to higher education programs such as IB or A-level.
