SSAT Middle

Learn About SSAT Middle

The SSAT Middle Level is an admissions exam designed for students currently in grades 5-7 who are applying for admission to grades 6-8 at reputable private and boarding schools.

The exam does not test memorized knowledge from a specific curriculum but instead focuses on evaluating core skills developed over time, including Verbal, Quantitative, and Reading Comprehension. By measuring reasoning and problem-solving abilities, the SSAT Middle Level helps schools identify students with the highest potential to succeed in their challenging academic environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About

SSAT Middle

Middle Level is for students applying to grades 6-8, while Upper Level is for students applying to grades 9-12. The Upper Level has more challenging questions, especially in math and vocabulary, reflecting higher academic expectations.
You will receive a scaled score for each of the three main sections (Verbal, Quantitative, Reading) as well as a total score. More importantly, you will receive a percentile rank comparing your performance to other students of the same grade and gender.
Very important. Although it is not scored, a copy is sent to the schools you are applying to. It is the only opportunity for them to see your writing ability and how you structure your thoughts independently.
Yes. Our approach is not just memorizing vocabulary. We teach students how to identify the specific logical relationship between the first pair of words (e.g., cause-effect, part-whole) and then apply that same relationship to find the correct answer.
We recommend starting preparation 3-6 months before the test date. This allows enough time to build the necessary vocabulary, master math concepts, and practice test-taking strategies without feeling rushed.
Tuition for the SSAT Middle Level course at Intertu Education depends on the total number of study hours and the level of support service package (Standard, Premium, Platinum) chosen by parents. For a detailed quote, please contact Intertu's advisory team directly.
