GED Mathematical Reasoning

Learn About GED Mathematical Reasoning

The GED Mathematical Reasoning test is one of the four required exams to earn the GED credential, which is equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. The goal of this section is not only to assess calculation skills but also to measure your ability to reason and solve real-world problems using mathematical tools.

The exam is divided into two main parts: Quantitative problems (arithmetic, basic algebra, geometry) and Algebraic reasoning (functions, graphs). Most of the test allows calculator use, emphasizing analysis and application over manual computation.

Frequently Asked Questions About

GED Mathematical Reasoning

It can be challenging, especially for those who haven’t studied math for some time. The test covers a wide range of topics, from basic arithmetic to algebra. However, with a structured study plan and consistent practice, passing the test is absolutely achievable.
Yes. The exam is divided into two parts. You are allowed to use the TI-30XS MultiView™ scientific calculator (provided on-screen) for most of the test (Part 2). The first, shorter part (Part 1) does not allow calculator use.
No. The test provides a formula sheet containing essential formulas for geometry, algebra, and data analysis. The key skill is knowing when and how to apply each formula, rather than memorizing them.
We begin with a diagnostic test to identify your specific areas of weakness. Then, our teachers create a personalized study plan to rebuild foundational skills, teach problem-solving strategies, and provide intensive practice with GED-style questions.
The minimum passing score for each GED subject is 145 out of 200. Scores between 165–174 indicate “College Ready” performance.
Tuition depends on the number of study hours and the support level you choose (Standard, Premium, or Platinum). For a detailed quote tailored to your needs, please contact the Intertu advisory team directly.
