Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About

IB Physics

Yes, IB Physics demands a strong foundation in Math. Students need to be proficient in Algebra, Trigonometry, and capable of applying mathematical tools to model and solve physics problems. For the Higher Level (HL), knowledge of Calculus is extremely useful and almost essential for a deep understanding of some topics.
Both SL and HL cover the core Physics topics. However, HL delves significantly deeper into these topics and covers additional higher-level (AHL) content such as Wave Phenomena, Electric and Magnetic Fields, Electromagnetic Induction, Quantum and Nuclear Physics. HL clearly demands a higher level of abstract thinking, mathematical skills, and problem-solving ability compared to SL.
Practical work is a central and indispensable part of IB Physics. The program emphasizes learning through experimentation. Students need to conduct numerous experiments to verify theories, develop important practical skills (designing, precise measurement, error analysis, lab safety), and collect data for the Internal Assessment (IA).
The Physics IA is an individual scientific investigation. Students need to independently identify an interesting and testable physics research question, then plan, design, and conduct an experiment (or use computer simulations, analyze available databases) to collect relevant data. Finally, students must process, analyze the data, evaluate the results, and present the entire process in a detailed scientific report.
IB Physics is a core foundational subject for most Engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, Civil...), theoretical and applied Physics, Astronomy, Computer Science (especially hardware, robotics, graphics-related fields), and Material Science. It's also a useful subject for fields like Medicine, Architecture, and Quantitative Finance (due to its modeling and problem-solving skills).
Yes, Intertu Education provides trial classes for IB Physics. This is an excellent opportunity for you and your parents to directly experience our teaching methodology, meet our teachers, and assess suitability before deciding to enroll in the official course.
