Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About

VCE EAL

According to VCAA (Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority) regulations, students are eligible for EAL if their total time studying at a school where English is the primary language of instruction is less than seven years.
“Easier” isn’t the correct term. VCE EAL is designed to better suit learners of English as an additional language. While the analytical skills required are equivalent, assessment criteria and selected texts take into account the student’s language-learning journey. However, it remains a very challenging VCE subject.
Yes. VCE EAL fulfills the mandatory English group requirement for ATAR calculation. Its scores are scaled just like other VCE subjects to ensure fairness.
Yes. One key difference from VCE English is that the final EAL exam includes a listening section. This part requires specific preparation and focused practice.
Intertu teachers focus on the unique needs of EAL learners: systematically building academic vocabulary, explaining complex cultural contexts, intensive listening practice, and providing detailed feedback on writing to improve both fluency and accuracy.
Tuition fees for VCE EAL at Intertu Education depend on the number of study hours and the level of support chosen (Standard, Premium, Platinum), ensuring the best match for each student’s needs and academic goals. For a detailed quotation, please contact Intertu’s advisory team directly.
