VCE Maths

Learn About The Subject

VCE Maths is a group of mathematics subjects within the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) program in Australia. More than just a single subject, it is an academic pathway divided into multiple levels — General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, and Specialist Mathematics — designed to develop logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and abstract analytical skills.

Achieving high results in VCE Maths subjects is a prerequisite for entry into most university courses, especially in the fields of Engineering, Science, Commerce, and Economics.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions About

VCE Maths

Mathematical Methods is a foundational subject focusing on Calculus and Functions. Specialist Mathematics is the highest and most challenging math subject, covering all content from Methods and extending into more advanced topics such as Vectors and Complex Numbers. It is often required for top-tier university courses in Engineering, Computer Science, and the Natural Sciences.
This is a highly demanding combination, suitable for students with exceptional mathematical aptitude and passion. It is ideal for those aiming for courses that have very high mathematical requirements and for maximizing their ATAR score.
General Mathematics is suitable for fields that do not require deep mathematical foundations, such as Social Sciences, Arts, Humanities, and some Business programs. However, it is not sufficient for entry into STEM or Commerce courses.
Intertu teachers help students strengthen foundational knowledge, practice with similar question types, and understand SAC marking criteria. We guide students in exam techniques and strategies to confidently complete their assessments while ensuring full compliance with academic integrity standards.
VCE is a highly respected international qualification. The rigor and depth of VCE Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics are widely recognized, providing excellent preparation for university-level mathematics anywhere in the world.
Tuition fees for O-level English Literature at Intertu Education depend on the total number of study hours and the chosen support package (Standard, Premium, Platinum). For a detailed quotation, please contact Intertu’s advisory team directly.
