GED Social Studies

Learn About GED Social Studies

The GED Social Studies test is one of the four required exams to earn the GED credential. Similar to the Science test, this is not a memorization-based test. Instead, it evaluates your reading comprehension and critical thinking skills within the context of social issues.

The goal of this section is to measure your ability to read, analyze, and interpret information from historical, civic, and economic texts. The test covers four main areas, with the largest portion being Civics and Government (50%), followed by U.S. History (20%), Economics (15%), and Geography & the World (15%).
