Frequently Asked Questions About

WACE English

The final grade for the course is calculated based on 50% from school-based assessments (essays, oral presentations, creative writing, tests, etc.) throughout the academic year and 50% from the final external examination organized by the WACE board.
WACE offers different English pathways, the most common being English ATAR (a university-preparation course focusing on the analysis of diverse texts), Literature ATAR (focusing in-depth on classic and contemporary literary works), and EAL/D (English as an Additional Language/Dialect for eligible students).
Besides the continuous assessment model (50/50), WACE English often has a strong focus on Australian literature and contexts. The program also emphasizes "creating texts," requiring students to write in various genres, not limited to just analytical essays.
The 1-on-1 learning environment at Intertu is a safe space for your child to practice. The teacher will work with your child to structure their speech, practice delivery and body language, and help them build confidence step-by-step before having to present officially in class.
This means that students do not only write analytical essays. They may be asked to write a newspaper article, a short story, a persuasive speech, or even a short script. This helps develop diverse and flexible writing skills.
Extremely important. The English ATAR course is one of the prerequisites for the vast majority of university majors in Australia and is considered by universities worldwide to be a reliable indicator of a student's communication and critical thinking skills.
