Key Stage 1 Mathematics

This is the Mathematics program under the National Curriculum for England for children aged 5-7 (equivalent to Years 1 and 2). The program focuses on foundational numeracy skills, basic calculations, geometry, and measurement, creating a solid start for learning Math.
Key Stage 1 Mathematics places special emphasis on learning through practical activities, games, and problem-solving in real-life contexts. The goal is to build conceptual understanding visually, rather than just focusing on memorizing calculation rules.
With our 1-on-1 method, teachers at Intertu can be patient and understanding. We will use games, visual aids, praise, and encouragement to help your child build confidence and create a positive and fun connection with Mathematics.
The core topics include: Number and Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division (introduction to concepts), Fractions (basic concepts like a half, a quarter), Measurement, and Geometry (properties of 2D and 3D shapes).
Key Stage 1 builds core "number sense" and conceptual understanding. This is the essential foundation that allows students to approach more complex topics like multiplication, division, and fractions easily and confidently in Key Stage 2.
Early exposure helps students build a foundation of mathematical vocabulary in English naturally and without pressure. This creates a huge advantage for future learning in a bilingual or international environment.
