The final grade for the course is calculated based on 70% from assignments, essays, presentations, and projects throughout the course, and 30% from the final exam. This requires students to demonstrate their abilities consistently and stably.

What are the main English courses in OSSD?

The most popular English courses for university-bound students are ENG3U (Grade 11) and ENG4U (Grade 12). Among them, ENG4U is often a mandatory prerequisite for most university programs in Canada and is widely recognized worldwide.

Does OSSD English focus only on classic literature?

No. Although classic works like those by Shakespeare are part of the program, OSSD English covers a very broad range, including contemporary novels, short stories, poetry, and especially non-fiction and media texts (articles, films, advertisements, etc.).

How does OSSD English differ from IB or A-Level English?
